Our responsibility

Corporate responsibility is pivotal to our business

It's important that we reflect our company values within the community, and for a business of our size and scale, that we leverage this to make a positive impact where we can.

I am proud to have led the Community Team in various initiatives over the years, and we are forever welcoming new ideas to improve our employee engagement, wellbeing and community give-back. Almost every month welcomes a new event or challenge to take part in for our Community. Over the last couple of years we have seen more and more of our employees join in and feel the benefit of engaging and taking part in such events. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Community Events

One of our values, Integrity, is an important focus for AFH. We believe in doing the right thing and over the past 5 years, our Community has raised over £75,000 for several charities including; Alzheimer’s Society, Mind, Birmingham Women’s Hospital, and, most recently, Motor Neurone Disease Association, where we raised over £27k in 2024 alone.

Fundraising is not just about doing good for others (although this part alone is important and extremely rewarding!) But it enables our whole community to come together and enjoy events such as; quiz nights, sky dives, fancy dress days and survival challenges. A particular highlight for 2024 was our famous Employee versus Adviser charity football match!

Whether working remotely or office based, these events give us all the chance to feel that sense of community.

Employee Volunteer Program

In line with making meaningful contributions to the environment and community around us, AFH employees are given a working day per year to volunteer at an organisation of their choice. This volunteering program not only helps us generate social value, but also builds wider relationships with our local communities. Since 2023, we have donated 123 volunteering days to local organisations. These included New Starts, Basement Project, Primrose Hospice, Dodford Children’s Farm and Birmingham Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Helping the environment

At AFH we care about our planet and the world that future generations will inherit. So we're committed to reducing our impact on the environment.

Within our offices we’ve, transferred to green energy, recycle as much as possible, utilise MS Teams and operate a hybrid working model to replace some business travel. To reduce printing, we use ‘follow me’ and offer a ‘go paperless’ alternative for all our clients, and are continuing to move more of our communication on to digital.

In 2024 we partnered with Ripple Africa, and have become a Forest Friend, planting 40 trees a month in Africa.
